[ARCHIVED] Public Works continues work to clear roads

Snow plowing update and reminders

Our Public Works crews plowed throughout the weekend and continue working to address areas that were missed or need additional attention. If your street or neighborhood was not fully cleared during the initial pass, please know that crews are still rotating back through remaining areas as conditions allow.

As a reminder, when streets are plowed, snow will be pushed toward the curb line, which can result in snow being deposited at the end of driveways. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable due to the way roads must be cleared to keep them safe and passable for traffic and emergency vehicles.

Please do not push or shovel snow back into the street.

Putting snow back into the roadway:

  • Slows down plowing operations
  • Creates icy and unsafe driving conditions
  • Can quickly refreeze with the colder temperatures expected
  • Increases risks for drivers, pedestrians, and plow crews

We appreciate everyone’s patience as crews complete remaining areas and continue cleanup operations. Your cooperation helps us keep Mount Airy roads as safe as possible during winter weather.
