[ARCHIVED] Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan Open for Public Comment

The Bicycle Pedestrian Master Plan (BPMP) establishes a 20-year vision for bicycling and walking as an integral part of Maryland’s transportation system. The BPMP is updated every 5 years in conjunction with the Maryland Transportation Plan (MTP). It serves as a guide for state, regional, and local partners on issues related to bicycle and pedestrian policy, accessibility, planning, and investment strategies.

The Draft 2040 BPMP is a comprehensive document that outlines existing conditions—demographics, infrastructure, safety, regional overviews, accomplishments, and emerging themes—and identifies future goals, objectives, and strategies. Drawn from these strategies, key initiatives are listed, each including short- and long-term targets that address the needs and opportunities for proposed bicycle and pedestrian policies, planning, and infrastructure projects throughout the State of Maryland.

There is a 30-day public comment period that ends on November 15, 2018. Please submit comments utilizing the form posted on the BPMP webpage at: www.mdot.maryland.gov/BikePedPlanUpdate , or email us your comments at: BikePedPlanUpdate@mdot.state.md.us.

The final Plan is slated for a January 2019 release.
