As a part of the Kids to Parks campaign by the National Park Trust, the Town of Mount Airy will host a scavenger event this weekend on May 28 and 29. Participants can stop by the caboose on Main Street between noon and 4 p.m. Saturday, May 28 or Sunday, May 29 to pick up a scavenger sheet. Folks can visit however many of the parks they want at their own speed to try and find the items listed. The parks that will be a part of the scavenger hunt are Watkins, East West, Windy Ridge, Vest Pocket, Wildwood, Rails to Trails, Summit Ridge, Prospect, Village Gate and the caboose. Ever child that comes to the caboose to get a scavenger hunt sheet will get a town frisbee. The annual campaign is designed to encourage families to bring their children outdoors to explore and learn about nature and the community.
