IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM Mount Airy Farmers Market
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by our earlier decision to call off the market today due to the weather. When planning these events, there are many factors to consider, and we received concerns from some vendors that the rain would negatively impact their market day. Based on the weather forecast, we believed it was the best decision for attendance and public safety.
However, after making this call, we heard from some of our anchor vendors and producers who had already prepared and harvested their goods for today. Not holding the market would result in significant losses for them. Therefore, we have decided to proceed with the market today, despite the confusion this may cause. If the weather worsens, we will close the market early. This approach allows vendors who might suffer substantial losses due to a cancellation to recover some of their work for the week.
We hope you understand the balance we are trying to maintain for everyone’s benefit. We have decided to keep our extended date on Oct. 9 so this will be a bonus day.
Today we will welcome an additional produce vendor Zahradka family farm as a vendor today and hope you will show them love.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
