A spooktacular week-long Halloween celebration is coming Oct. 24-31 as the Town of Mount Airy will be transformed into the Town of Mount Scary.
An eerie-sistible schedule of boo-tiful events are scheduled to take place:
* Oct. 18: Movie Night for Adults with a showing of American Graffiti, dusk, Municipal Lot, 1 Veterans Way
* Oct. 24: Family Movie Night with a showing of Halloweentown, 7 p.m., Watkins Park, 615 Center St.
* Oct. 25: Costume Contest, Trunk or Treat and Spooky Trail, 6 p.m., Watkins Park (615 Center St.) to Railyard (3 N. Main St.)
* Oct. 26: Haunted CaBOOse, 5 to 8 p.m., 2 N. Main St., Suggested $2 donation per person to participate with funds going toward the Historical Society of Mount Airy. Baked goods for sale. Free pumpkin/color kits (while supplies last)
* Oct. 27: Online scavenger hunt
* Oct. 28: Pets on Parade Costume Contest, 1 p.m., Wildwood Park, 400 Park Ave.
* Oct. 29: Spooky Trivia & Games

* Oct. 31: Carroll County Public Library – Mount Airy Branch Halloween Storytime with First Lady Mary Hushour at the Caboose, 10 a.m., 2 N. Main St.
* The Historical Society of Mount Airy will also be hosting Murder, Mystery & Mayhem Ghost Tours on Oct. 11, 18, 25, 31 and Nov. 1. The walking tours, starting at 5 and 7 p.m., kick off at the Mount Airy Museum, 1 N. Main St. and last about an hour and a half covering about a mile. The walk is moderately strenuous and not wheelchair accessible. Each tour is limited to 26 people. $20 per person plus a $3.18 service fee. All money benefits the Historical Society of Mount Airy.
