[ARCHIVED] Code Enforcement Corner -- Missing or Not Visible House Numbers

house numbers

CODE ENFORCEMENT CORNER -- Mount Airy Police Department - MD

Is your house number missing? Can it be seen?

The Town Code says "each building shall be identified by the use of Arabic numerals or such numerals and a letter suffix with a number as approved by the postal authorities and ... shall be affixed to the building in characters at least three inches high and at least 1/2 inch in width and ... to be clearly visible and legible in the daytime from the street."

Large address numbers on your mailbox or on your home make it easier and faster for those who want to help you (like firefighters, ambulance drivers and police) and those who care (like family and friends) to find your address ... especially in an emergency!

Make sure your family is safe and secure and help emergency personnel help you in an emergency...put larger numbers outside your house -- at least 3' high and 1/2 wide according to Mount Airy Code.

Thank you for taking this small step. It can mean big rewards for you and your family's safety.
