Town Council Nominations

NOMINATION INFORMATION - Two citizen meetings will be held for the purpose of accepting nominations of candidates for three Town Council positions, currently filled by Peter Helt, Robert King and Jason Poirier for the upcoming May 6, 2019 Mount Airy Election, and nominations will remain open between the two meetings: 

March 11, 2019 - First Nomination Meeting at 7:00 p.m., at Mount Airy Town Hall, 110 S. Main Street, Mount Airy.

March 18, 2019 - Second Nomination Meeting at 7:00 p.m., Mount Airy Town Hall -- when all nominations will be read and given to the Town Clerk to put on the ballot.  

Nominations will be accepted at both Nomination Meetings, and also at Town Hall (office hours 8:30a.m. – 5:00p.m. M-F) during the week between the two Nomination Meetings.  Eligible individuals seeking elective office may submit a nomination.  Eligible citizens may nominate an individual with the written consent of the nominee. 

Council candidates shall have resided in Mount Airy corporate limits for at least one year immediately preceding their election and shall be qualified voters in the Town.

ELECTION INFORMATION:

Election Day - The Mount Airy Election will be held on Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Firemen’s Reception Hall (formerly called Mount Airy Activities Building), 1008 Twin Arch Road, Mount Airy.  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Absentees – Absentee ballots will be available at Town Hall as of April 15, 2019.

Registration deadline and information: The last day to register to vote in the 2019 Mount Airy Election will be on APRIL 8, 2019 AT 5:00 P.M.  If you currently live in the Mount Airy Town limits and are registered with Frederick or Carroll County Election Board, you are automatically registered to vote in the Town Election.  County Election Registration Forms are available at the library and Town Hall.
