As part of Mount Airy’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the Town is creating a community time capsule to preserve everyday life in Mount Airy during this historic year—with gratitude for the people, places, and moments that make our town home.
The Time Capsule Project invites residents, families, businesses, and visitors to submit photos and messages that capture what Mount Airy looks and feels like today—from milestone events to quiet, ordinary days. Submissions may include family memories, neighborhood scenes, parks, community gatherings, town services, and moments of service and care that reflect the spirit of our community.
All approved submissions will be securely archived and placed into Mount Airy’s official America 250 Time Capsule, to be sealed in 2026 and reopened by future generations. Together, these memories will tell the story of a town united by history, strengthened by community, and shaped by gratitude.
The submission portal will remain open all year long, allowing memories to be shared as they happen. Participants may submit multiple entries, label each submission, and include a short message to help preserve the meaning behind each photo.
Thank you for helping us preserve today for tomorrow.
